How do I delete a registered domain?

  I currently have one blog with 2 different URLs. I want to remove jamesmannsjr.com and instead use litebulbtheblog.wordpress.com.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there –

  I can cancel the domain for you, but please note that if you cancel it, there’s no guarantee it will become available to register again. If you want to use it with another site (not at WordPress.com), you should transfer it rather than cancel it.

  If you want to move it to your other WordPress.com blog, http://jamesmannsjr.wordpress.com/ , I can do that for you.

  If you’re sure you don’t want it at all anymore, please reply and confirm that I should fully cancel domain jamesmannsjr.com.

  Hey eurello,

  If you move my jamesmannsjr.com domain to jamesmannsjr.wordpress.com, will this empty blog show up in search results if one were to Google search my name – “James Manns Jr”? I do not want that to happen. Can we make this empty blog private and unsearchable if we transfer the domain?

  Hi James – Sure, you can make it private. I’ve moved it for you, and you can set it to private here:
  https://jamesmannsjr.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php

  Then you still have the domain if you want to use it sometime in future.

  Please note, however, that if the domain was already indexed by Google, it will take some time for the old Google listings to go away. Google has to update its index and realize the domain isn’t there anymore, and we don’t have any control over how quickly that happens on our end.
