How do I delete a site?

  Hi, I have an old site https://alphonselegrandebear.wordpress.com/ which I want to remove because I am building a new one (still word press). Unfortunately I can’t remember any of the log in details for this site. But I would like to delete it before the new site goes live. However, I would like to keep the name if possible. Can you help? Many thanks. My e-mail is (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  Hi there,
  If you delete your site, you’ll also get rid of the blog name and it’s not possible to keep it or recover it. I suggest that if you no longer want your site to be public, you set it to private. You’ll find this option in Settings > Reading > Site Visibility.
  If you don’t remember your login details, you can use the following form: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery
