How do I delete featured categories from a showcase page template?

    Hello,
    I was playing around with different themes for my blog. I created it as an oxygen theme. I played with it in Skylark theme just to see what it would look like and created featured categories for my showcase page template on my front page. I decided to go back to oxygen and wanted my front page as I had it before, with the slider but not the featured categories and no post from these categories. I have other info I want on this page that doesnt show now, only the featured categories I created in Skylark along with the slider.

    I cant delete the featured categories. I tried changing back to skylark to see if I could change settings there and go back to oxygen after that. There doesnt appear to be a way of unselecting a featured category there either??? I hope that makes sense?? For now I have made my front page the default template so it contains the info I want there but I really want the slider back!!!
