How do I delete images within the body of a post?

  • Unknown's avatar

I use the Hatch theme, and I’m trying to remove an image from the body of a post. I can’t see how to do that without deleting the image entirely. I still want to use it as the featured image on the home page that relates to the post, but I don’t want it as the header WITHIN the post. (I have a video and a thumbnail with a caption, and having a giant image up there looks ridiculous.)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You edit the post and click the image in the post in the Visual editor. You will see a red circle with the slash through it click it. Then you click “update” in the Publish module. That deletes the image from the post but not from your Media Library.

Thanks for trying to help, but I’ve combed through both the Visual and Text editors, and there’s nothing in there like that, unfortunately! There’s got to be a way to do it in the html, but I can’t see how there is access to any html or customization with this theme – or any of the themes for that matter – without paying boatloads of money. Argh!

You go to the post in question and edit it.
You look at the post displayed in the Visual editor.
You locate the image and you click it.
Then on the image (not the toolbar – this has nothing to to with the toolbar) up pops a little mountain icon (ignore it) and a red circle icon with a slash through it – click it!

You are off on a tangent. Please simply do as I said above.

Timethief. As I mentioned before, there’s nothing in/around the post that allows one to edit or do anything at all to the image. There is no reference to the image whatsoever. Code for the image isn’t there. The image itself isn’t there. There is nothing to click on. I’m not off on a tangent. I’m trying to solve this problem.

I have deleted numerous images using the instructions I posted above for deleting them from free hosted WordPress.com blog posts. As yours is a private blog and you don’t understand my instructions I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.
Best wishes for a happy ending.

    Hi amustain,

I see that you are no longer using the Hatch theme on any of your blogs. Would you still like help with this issue?

Please note that with the Hatch theme, featured images will appear both on the blog as a preview and full size in single post view. If you only want the featured image to appear on the front page, and not in the single post view, you will need to use a different theme or purchase the Custom Design upgrade for additional theme customization.

Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this!

Hi there, thanks for checking in – I did eventually realize that the Hatch theme didn’t allow flexibility with the images, so I went ahead and switched to a premium theme. Thanks again!
