How do I delete my site but there is no drop-down menu?

I’m trying to delete my site, Mostly Mocha, because I know I wasn’t enrolled in AutoPay but somehow it was automatically renewed and I haven’t posted in quite some time. I followed the path described in the handy answers: Dashboard> Tools> Delete Site. When I click Delete Site, I get a page that says “Warning! You cannot delete a site that has a domain registration upgrade because you need access to the site in order to get to the domain manager.” Then it goes on to say to just make the site private.

So, I made the site private and took off the only add-on I had, Private Registration. I still can’t delete the site.

    Did I do something incorrectly?

    Hi there,

I understand you would like to delete your site: mostlymocha.wordpress.com, but please note because you have a custom domain: mostlymocha.com, you cannot delete your site at the moment.

You are welcome to keep your domain with us and just transfer it to another site. Then, that would free up mostlymocha.wordpress.com to be permanently deleted.

Or you can just leave your site to private (no one will be able to see this until you provide access) and leave the domain.

You may also transfer your domain to another registrar by following this guide:

Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar

However, if you want to completely cancel the domain please note that canceling a domain at this time means you completely give up ownership of the domain. There is no guarantee the domain will become available to re-register after cancellation.

If you would like to completely cancel your ownership of the domain name, please reply to confirm.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
