How do I delete one of my suscribers from my blog?
-
I went to the STAT link and clicked on subscribers, then email subscribers. It listed 3 addresses, but there is no indication of how to delete them.
Please in simple English help. An illiustaration with another example would be a good way of explaining these things.
please email me

I appreciate th eanswer from airodyssy but sunshines response & th elink were valuless. There is NO link to remove an email subscriber that was added by the email sidebar widget. The email adress are there. That’s it.
Can someone who understands this problem please help me ASAP.

That’s correct. Staff have removed it. To have a subscriber removed now we must contact Staff and have them do it for us. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

But they can always just resubscribe perhaps using a different email address. Basically there is no way to keep people from subscribing, so removing them is sort of useless really.

I agree. It’s really a moot point (1) in the sense that if our blogs are “public” then the posts can be read by anyone on the internet anyway, and (2) anyone can subscribe to the RSS feeds on public blogs. -
nooooooooooooooo
U dont get it. NOT. I want to remove an email subscriber (to my website , in wordpress.com) that is not clever enough to do it himself. Is it Possible (Ues or no)
If so how. Come on guys. I don’t want to be obnoxious, but no one is adressing my question.
Thanks

OK. If you are saying that tere USED to be a link & now it is gione & one must go to staff to get a subscriber removed. Sorry, bit why not say that.
And isn;t that kind of time consuming? And I’ve spent a lot of time on this, Perhaps someone could kindly update the link and instructins:)
Thanjks

It does no good to remove an email subscriber if they are determined to get email alerts from your site. All they have to do is get a handful of free email addresses at gmail, yahoo or live.com and each time you delete one of them they sign up with another.
-
And if they don’t want to do that, they can just subscribe to the RSS feed and you will never know it, or they can visit your site each day and read what you post right off your site.
You are trying to hold back the ocean with a screen door.

What about when a subscriber dies, as a friend of mine recently did? Every time I look at my list of “active” subscribers, I see his email address. Why do I have no way to allow him to rest in peace here in this cyber community?

@punckin
I provided the best information I could at the time Mar 13, 2011, 5:28 PMYou posted into this thread on May 1, 2011, 8:18 AM after the link for removing subscribers had been removed from our dashboards by Staff. Again I provided the best information I could provide. Now you have provided this:

I do not clearly understand what you are expressing. Perhaps English is not your mother tongue and that’s why I don’t but I will try to help once again.
The subscriber can look for an “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the email he/she receives and unsubscribe. It’s common practice for such an “unsubscribe” link to appear at the bottom of emails we receive for blogs we subscribe to. Has you subscriber looked for such a link or not? If the link does appear then please tell the subscriber to click it.

@marciarieferjohnston
In that case you simply contact Staff using this link and they will remove the subscriber who has passed on. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ -
What about my friend who recently died? He cannot unsubscribe himself from my blog. His email address is stuck in the purgatory of my “active subscriber” list. WordPress does not appear to give the living (like me) any way to let the deceased to rest in peace among the no longer “active.”

@timethief
I see your reply now. Thanks. I did try contacting WordPress and asking them to remove the subscriber, but I was told that even they cannot (or would not) do this. Has anyone succeeded with a request like this? -

I too am having a similar issue with wordpress. While I understand that there is no way to limit people looking at my site, there is a big difference between someone coming to my site under their own volition and me ACTIVELY sending them EMAIL, prompting them that changes are being made. In fact there are legal differences.
In my case I am advised that in the first case I should cease sending any correspondence to the person concerned and WordPress are not helping with this.
Not acceptable guys!<My email>
Hi Guys,I am having an issue with one an email subscriber to my xyz.wordpress.com Due to potential legal issues related to stalking, could I please ask that you remove ((email visible only to moderators and staff) from the list of my email subscribers. I understand that this won’t stop them from reading the blog, but I do need to stop my blog actively promoting changes via email each time I do an update. Hopefully if we are not actively promoting changes then it should make life just a bit easier. Appreciate your assistance. Kindest Regards,Scott<Wordpress Response>
— Hi there, We recently disabled the option to remove a subscriber from your email subscriber list after repeated complaints about the way this option worked. As long as your site is publicly available on the web, there is no way to block specific people from seeing it. The “Remove Subscriber” link didn’t ban a user from your site, stop them from reading it, or even prevent them from subscribing to it again. Note that there is no limit for how many people can subscribe to your site. You may want to check out our privacy options for more information about limiting access to your site:http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ If you’re being harassed or abused by a WordPress.com user, please report this here:http://wordpress.com/abuse/ Sorry if this is not the answer you were hoping for. Please let us know if there’s any other way we can help. Best, — Andrea Automattic | WordPress.com
