How do I delete/clear a theme completely to make it stop interferring?

    I started with Getaway theme, but changed my mind and changed to Edin. However, the convertion didn’t work at all (things ended up in the wrong places, features were missing or behaved weirdly). I have now tried to delete all my pages and other content. However, it is as if there is a major theme glitch affecting the whole blog. It has not helped to change to 2014 default and then to Edin. Googled solutions do not seem to apply any more (I cannot, for instance, find a delete button for the deactivated theme as suggested by one site, or download any plugin to fix this). I do not want to delete or otherwise change the account/account name/blog name, only get a clean start for applying the Edin theme. I cannot believe this is so impossible to do! Any advise would be ever so appreciated.
    Please note that the blog is all empty now so nothing to see, but rest assured it just won’t work.
