How do I determine the width of my sidebar?
-
I am trying to create an image widget. I keep making my image smaller and smaller, but it is still too wide for the sidebar. I am using the Coraline theme.

The sidebar on your theme is 450px wide.
To determine this, you’ll need to view the page source, which will give you the stylsheet (CSS) URL. Then, click this to view the stylesheet.

I tried making the jpeg image 450px wide. It is 72 dpi.
The width still gets cropped significantly when I put it in the image widget.
Where do I go to view the page source?
-
Viewing page source depends on your browser. Usually, it’s under the View, Tools, or Developer menu.
For your image, try 445px or 440px. There may be other elements around the image taking up some of the 450px space.

Would you please add the image to your sidebar and leave it so I can take a look at what’s going on?
-
I didn’t want to leave it up because it looks bad. If I do it now are you available to take a look?
-
On second thought, is it possible for me to send you the image file and have you try it on a test page?
-
Sure, just upload the image file via Media -> Add New in your blog’s Dashboard and let me know the title.
