How do I determine which version of word press I have?
-
I installed word press a long time ago and am just now getting serious about setting up a blog. I’m sure I have an older version but can’t determine just what I have. I can’t find a button under TOOLS that lets me do an automatic update.

If your WordPress version does not propose an automatic update, then it is probably pretty old… ;)
You should see the version you are running at the bottom right of your dashboard pages, or in the main page of your dashboard.

I just checked the dashboard and there is no information listed in the area indicated above. I’m trying to figure this out before jumping off the deep end and trying a manual download and update. What do you suggest? Thanks

This is a WordPress.com blog, not a self-hosted WordPress.org installation, therefore you don’t have to worry about updating the software as we take care of it for you.

Thanks, I was beginning to suspect something like that. Sorry to be so stupid…I’m an old guy.

Please don’t apologize, there is absolutely nothing to be sorry about, the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org is not totally clear to a lot of people.
