How do I disable automatic post changes?
-
Hi @dreadedsoftware – I just wanted to follow up, I wasn’t able to grab the developer on this before the weekend. I’ll check in again on Monday.

@shawnajroberts thanks for your quick responses. I look forward to hearing back about what the developer thinks.
@raincoaster Let’s try to keep the support threads as focused and narrow as possible so WordPress can have a clear picture of the particular issues they need to address.
This thread is with respect to the automatic insertion of html expansions within the post editor. If you have problems with the new post button, I suggest you create a new thread so you can get more pertinent information and attract other users who have experiences similar to your own.
Taking a feature off line is the worst way to find a solution to the issue. Unless a feature is used in production, there is no way to tell if it actually works. It would be more helpful to describe the exact issue you’re seeing so someone can address it. “It needs fixing” is not specific enough. Think if you made an insurance claim for your car and all you told the insurance company was “it needs fixing”. Your claim would be denied. Let’s try to be mindful of the work that goes into software development and make comments that facilitate the process rather than making empty comments out of anger.

Well, staff asked me a question, so I’m going to answer.
If you told the insurance company you were using something you knew to fail regularly, what would their response be?
The New Post button so regularly causes issues with uploading media (ie rendering it impossible) and causes long drafts to publish blank without having kicked in the autosave that I stopped tagging those threads months ago. I just copy paste an old thread now. If you want, I can start re-tagging the Missing Post threads so you can track them all.

@raincoaster
There are many threads under recovering a blog post or page and think that’s what you are referring to, as well as some older ones under missing posts. -

Hello again everyone!
@dreadedsoftware – The developer has been able to identify part of the issue. So far, it looks like this does not happen if you paste code into the Text editor and ensure that a closing code tag is used before moving back to the Visual editor.
She and I are working on figure out which workflows do and don’t create the encoding issue, since it seems that there are some small pieces that are causing our testing to have some unreliable results. Thanks so much for your patience with this.
@raincoaster & @timethief – Thanks for the follow up! The developers are still working on the autosaving issues you mention. We understand that losing content is extremely frustrating and we’re working to make the editor autosave more reliably.
I’m not sure that I’ve heard of ongoing issues with the “Add Media” module in the WordPress.com homepage editor, outside of an issue related to users with the “Contributer” role on their main site. If you’re having trouble with that still, or seeing other users having trouble, could you open a new thread about it?

Hi there!
I apologize for the delay while we sorted out some other issues with the new editor. The developers have deployed a fix for this encoding issue when using [code] tags.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can help with!

Thanks. If you’ve opened any trouble tickets/bugs/enhancement requests with respect to this thread, they may be closed.
