Go to settings > discussion and you can turn them off there. Do realize though that that will not effect any posts or pages that have already been published. You will have to edit all existing posts/pages and turn the comments off for each in the section below the text area.

Make sure and clear your browser cache, and then view the blog again. You may be looking at cached pages. Also note as I said,

How do I edit comments? When I click on ‘edit’ I can edit the blog, not the comment. I have looked everywhere and can’t seem to find out how to edit responses that my blog receives. Heyup.

Well, for one thing editing comments is risky legally. According to court rulings, the comment belongs to the commenter, not the blog owner. The most I’d do is take out the contact details from a minor or such.
That said, you can go to the blog post itself and beside every comment you’ll see the word Edit. Click on that and you can edit it.

Go to “comments” in your dashboard and click the name of the commenter and it will open the comment for edit.

Thank you muchly. I promise to not change anyone’s post and to only add my response. Cheers.
