How do I disable domain privacy?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have been trying to transfer a domain from wordpress.com to elsewhere, and it doesn’t seem to be working. I got a notification via email that said I need to make sure that my “domain privacy” is off in order for the transfer to be processed. If the privacy is on, the transfer will not take place. Then I checked on the Domain Manager page (my host is Automattic) and one section read: “Privacy: On.” The problem is, however, that there seems to be no way of changing this. There is nowhere to click to change it. I tried the hyperlink labeled “manage” to the immediate right of the “Privacy:On” notification, but it doesn’t do anything. Please help! I’m so frustrated.

Please go to your blog’s Dashboard. Under Store > My upgrades you will see your domain name listed there.

Underneath the domain name is a link to “Cancel Private Whois”.

Thankyou! I would never have figured that out by myself.
