How do I disable my Domain Lock?
-
I’m trying to follow the instructions posted in the support section, but from the start I can’t find an option to disable my domain lock so that I can request an authorization code to transfer it. The options I get when I clicked ‘edit’, to the right of my domain name, are e-mail and Edit DNS.
Could anyone show me how to achieve this? I’d like to begin my transfer sooner rather than later… thanks guys!

Luca,
Refer to this screenshot. You get to this screen by clicking Edit next to your domain and then the Transfer Domain tab.
Here you can see the checkboxes to disable both Domain Lock, as well as Private Registration. You need to check both of these options.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately once I press ‘edit’ next to my domain, I don’t get a screen with all those tabs. I get a screen with only two options: email, or edit DNS. Why is it that I can’t even get to the screen with the Transfer domain tab?

Provide the URL of the domain please. Then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. If you can’t find the Transfer Domain tab, it most probably means the domain was not registered/purchased at WordPress.com. Note that just changing name servers does not transfer the domain.
As @timethief said, it helps if you give us the domain name so that we can do a WHOIS lookup.
To transfer the domain, you will have to contact the domain registrar, i.e., the host from where you purchased the domain name.

Hi Invasivore,
It sounds like, as other have mentioned, you only have domain mapping and not a registration through us.
As there are no domain names associated with the account you are writing from could you let us know the domain name in question or post using the account associated with the domain?
Thanks!

Thanks, I just did a whois look up. The domain is registered with Tucows through the reseller IPOWER.
Since the domain is not registered through WordPress.com you’ll need to request the EPP code from IPOWER. This is also where you’ll update the name servers to point away form WordPress.com.
