How do I disable the Testimonial and Food Menu features on my WordPress site?

I have the Canape theme, but am using it as a personal blog. There is an automatic ‘Testimonials’ and ‘Food Menus’ feature on my site, but I can’t figure out how to disable them! I have got to My Site->Manage->Settings->Writing and disabled Testimonials there, but it still shows on my home page. The text on the home page says ‘It can be disabled via the Customizer’ but when I go to My Site->Design->Customize->Testimonials, disable is not an option. I have also not been able to find any information on how to disable the Food Menus feature, as the word ‘menu’ typically populates results referring to the overall site menu. Thanks for the help! I am hoping to make these changes in the next two days so I can get my site launched.

  • Hi there,

    Is this on https://lindseygracewrites.wordpress.com/?

You can switch off the Testimonials content type entirely at My Site ->Settings ->Writing in the dashboard.

But the Food Menus feature cannot be disabled, as that’s the core feature of the Canape theme you’re using. The Canape theme is intended for restaurant websites, and the food menus feature is for displaying a menu of meals available. The site menu linking to different pages on your site is something completely different, and is configured in the Customizer.

You can find information on managing your site menu at https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

And you can find details on how food menus in Canape works on the support page for that them at https://wordpress.com/theme/canape/
