How do I display featured content on the home page?
-
I would like to edit my homepage, so that rather than (just) displaying my most recent posts, i can also have a “featured content” box where I link to/display a specific post (even if it’s from far back in time).
Any suggestions on how I might do that?
In general, I don’t really see options for changing or editing preferences for the home page.
Thank you in advance!

There’s no direct way to do that, but try setting your featured posts as Sticky posts: http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts
This will display them above all others, and some themes offer different styling for Sticky posts.

Another question:
How do I hide the “tags” in my posts. I don’t need the tags to be visible to readers, and they just take up space on the bottom.
I don’t see an option on my dashboard to hide them.
Any advice?
Thanks!

There’s no direct way to hide them, but if you have a Custom Design upgrade, you can hide them via CSS.
