How do I do a hard reset on a corrupted theme?
-
I did something to the Twenty Twenty Two theme (added a second header by accident, assuming that’s what broke it) and now it freezes any time I enter the site editor. I tried deleting and reinstalling the theme. I tried deleting the theme folder and reinstalling. I tried downloading the WP Reset plugin and resetting theme options. Nothing’s working, it’s still stuck in a broken state with my stupid double headers lol.
How can I do a hard reset for the theme? I want to restart as if it was the first time installing the theme, I don’t want it to remember any changes I’ve made to it.
(I do not want to reset my entire WordPress though, I’ve done work creating pages and posts I don’t want to lose.)

It’s a local install of wordpress so I can’t share the link. (or edit posts apparently lol sorry)

I figured it out!
For posterity:
I must have created a recursive header-within-a-header, which is why the Site Editor kept freezing. Which meant I couldn’t access the Templates or Template Parts admin pages.
So here’s the path to the Template Part admin / editor page:
/wp-admin/site-editor.php?postType=wp_template_partClick the three-dots next to the Header template part (or whatever part is broken) and click “Clear customizations”
And going forward, I am bookmarking all the site editor pages incase I get locked out again. Probably bookmarking all of the important / frequently-visited WP admin pages.

Glad you sorted it out!
