How do I duplicate templates?
-
I edited a template the other day (the template that is used for normal pages) and while I like my edits, I’d like to duplicate it so I can revert the original back to default. But I can’t find *anywhere* that talks about duplicating a template.. I’m assuming because it’s a new WordPress thing? Anyone know?

Hi, there isn’t (yet) a template duplication button/option – you’d basically need to copy the blocks in your current template and create a brand new “custom” template where you can then paste the blocks.
There’s some general information about templates and the Site Editor here:
If you find it a bit unwieldy to highlight/copy all the blocks, what you can do is switch to the ‘code view’ and copy all the code. You can still paste what you’ve copied into the fresh template you create, and it will show the blocks in the ‘visual’ editing mode. This guide shows where to find code view – it works the same way in the regular post/page editor as well as the Site Editor:
