How do I duplicate the Meraki theme sticky cover post?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, I downloaded the official Meraki theme (https://wordpress.com/theme/meraki) with Blockbase for my self-hosted site. This new site editor is such a PITA to use. I can’t seem to figure out how to get my site looking like the demo theme. In particular everything below the header and above the list of blog posts (the stickied post cover about 10 solo trips and the ‘Hello I’m Veronica’ section with the three buttons). Am I missing some sort of plugin to make these work? I’m on a vanilla installation.

  • Good Morning –

It sounds like you’re missing the demo content for the Meraki theme. You’ll be able to download and use that content form the file that we have sent to your email address.

The Meraki theme also requires a custom front page in order to look like the demo. The demo content should assist with learning the new editor.

Write back to us if you need further help and we will do our best to get you pointed in the right direction.

Thank you, I was able to import the demo content. I have a follow-up question:

The cover image on the front page…do I have to manually edit all of its content every time I want to feature a post? Meaning, I have to manually type in and link the post title and the categories each time, and change the image to the post’s featured image?

  • No, this is done automatically based on the post you have set as sticky. As for the image, it uses the one you have set as featured on the post.

Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, just let me know, and I’ll be happy to help.

I thought as much but it won’t update. I’ve cleared caches and made sure that I only have 1 stickied post. But the cover still shows the 10 Destinations post from the theme demo content.

  • Hi there, sorry for the confusion earlier. By default, this cover block displays the latest post, and it actually ignores sticky posts.

Make sure your block’s settings match the default: https://d.pr/i/FosO39

If you have any non-sticky posts dated later than the demo content post, and your latest post should appear in that cover block.

Please let us know if you have any more questions!
