How do I edit a post or a page?
-
I really need help! I need to know how to delete a post. When you give me instructions, you need to tell me from square one what I need to do. I am completely lost. In other words, I need you to tell me exactly where I need to go and what I need to click. You can’t just tell me that I need to go here and do this. I need you to tell me exactly how to get to a certain page. I need step by step, by step instructions.
I’ve also tried to look on YouTube for videos that would show me from square one what I need to do, but am not having any luck.
Also, can anyone tell me the difference between a post and a page?
Thank you for helping me.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

HI there,
I’ll try to be as thorough as possible, and if I’m not, please tell me so I can guide you through the process.First of all Post vs. Page
A Page has static content (such as your name, what the blog is about, maybe a contact form, it hardly changes so it’s design to stay that way for a long while).
On the other hand, posts are more similar to entries. They are usually order chronologically and can have articles, news or whatever you can think that you wish to add in a regular basis. There’s a lot more to be said but you wish to delete a post, so let’s hit that:
Go to your dashboard( in your screen click the top left corner that says my site)
It will open a black column on the left with many options->
Go down the list, till you find POST (click it and you will see every post you’ve written)
Choose the one you wish to delete and by standing your mouse in top of the tittle you’ll see the option TRASH in red. Click that.
That should be it.
If this is still not helping, let me know and we’ll figure it out.
I’d love to help
Good luck! -
Here’s a webinar that might also help with your blog:
https://wordpress.com/webinars/quick-start-blogging/.
To me is useful to follow the steps while i’m watching. -
Thank you for your explanation. It does clear up some things for me. It’s all still a little confusing. I’m definitely going to check out the link you sent.
My problem is, when I try to create another post, instead of it being ‘on it’s own’, it appears under the main image header of the page which is about the season of autumn. I want to create another post about the month of Halloween with its own image header, but what it does is it appears under the main autumn header image, including the image.
Is there a way I can make my Halloween entry, along with the image, appear by itself?
Thanks again for the link. I’m going to check it out right now. -
I watched the link and, even though it was helpful in some areas, it didn’t answer my question on how to create a separate blog post from my homepage?
Whether I create a post or page it always appears directly under my homepage. I want it to be completely on a new page altogether.
Nothing came up when doing a search for this specific information. Very frustrating. Thanks! -
You should be able to create a new post by following the steps here:

Hello,
So to create a blog that it’s a separate page than your homepage:
Go to pages (same process as explained before to find Posts)
You need to set a Homepage (which you already have)
And Posts Page (You also have a page that it’s called BLOG)-> click on the three dots(… on the right) -> Set as Post page.
(This is where all your posts will be).Another subject I understand is bothering you is that you want your post in different categories.
You can also do this:Go to your Dashboard->Click on Posts (a new submenu is going to be shown under Posts in the same black column at the left)->Click on Categories->Add new category.
Go back to Posts->Choose the one you want and click->Quick Edit->Categories->Click on the box category you’d like this post to be a part of->Update.And the last thing should be the adding an image to your post:
Go to the Post->Edit->(In the Editor go to the white column at your right)->Post->Scroll down until you find Featured Image->Set (or Replace )featured image->
Media Library(Will let you upload from your computer) Otherwise you could choose free photosI think we’ve covered all, but if not, please tell me, I’d love to help till you are happy with your blog.
Good luck! -
Here are the steps I’ve done:
Dashboard>My Site>?
Under the thumbtack icon this is what shows in the drop down menu:
All Posts
Add New
Categories
TagsOf these, which should I click?
Will I see the three dots after I click on one of these options? Because right now I don’t see those three dots.
As you can see I have a lot of questions, and rest assured, I will have many more! LOL!Thanks so much!

I checked it out and would like to send it via fe-mail, but I don’t see a send by fe-mail option. Would I only see it after I’ve sent my fe-mail along?
Also, which URL would I use to send it? The URL from my dashboard? Thanks!
-
Also, would I send it via fe-mail as an attachment or directly would I just type it up directly into the body of the fe-mail?
It really doesn’t explain anything. Thanks! -
And rest assured I’ll help you as long as I can :)
So, first the three dots are the ones that’ll help you edit pages. (Remember pages are different than posts) And these are the steps to have a posts page instead of having all your posts in your homepage:
Pages-> All Pages-> BLOG …-> Set as Posts Page. -
“Also, would I send it via fe-mail as an attachment or directly
would I just type it up directly into the body of the fe-mail?”About this… I have no clue what you are referring to. Could you give me some more details?
-
I was addressing Olumite007. He sent me a link that showed me one option I could use is creating my post in my fe-mail and send it to WordPress and then tweak it once I’m there.
I can see how you’d be confused reading that! LOL!
