How do I edit the information in the black box at the bottom of each page?
-
There is a black box at the bottom of every page on our blog that contains our street address, phone number, etc. All this information has changed, but I can’t figure out how to edit this box.

Hi there,
You can change this from your Widgets area here:
https://friendsofjustice.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
Open the section titled “First Footer Area” on the right. Inside you will find a text widget that you can open and modify.
Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks, but I can’t find “first footer area” in that list. Also, the link you sent me doesn’t work. I found the widgets area, but there is no mention of the category you indicated.

Hi Alan,
So, to get to the area I mentioned, you’ll want to first log in here:
https://friendsofjustice.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Next, look for “Appearance” on the left hand side. Within the “Appearance” menu, you will find an option called “Widgets”.
In the “Widgets” area, you will need to look on the right hand side towards the bottom for the section called “First Footer Area”. (You will likely need to scroll down to find this.)
Here is a screenshot: http://grab.by/nvQk
Click on the “Text” widget to open it. You will then see the contents from this screenshot:
You can change the text there and click the “Save” button.
Let me know if this helps.

When I click on the link you sent me I am taken to my dashboard, and there is no “appearance” tab on the left hand side. Maybe I need to upgrade or something. Thanks for the screenshots. At least I know what I’m looking for even if I can’t seem to find it.

Hi there Alan,
I just looked and saw that you aren’t an administrator on the site. This is why you have a limited number of options. Sorry for the confusion there.
If you like, you can see more about user roles here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/
One of the administrator level users on the site will need to do this for you. Alternatively, they can make you an administrator so that you can do it yourself.

Yes, that makes sense. I will have her make me an administrator and then follow your excellent instructions.

That sounds great Alan. I’m sure they’ll work out better once you actually have access! :-)
Let me know if you run into any issues.
