How Do I Edit the SideBar For Each Page?
-
Alright, so I’ve just signed up for Money4Banners and they require you to have their ad on three different pages- now I know how to edit the sidebar, but each edit I make affects it on all the pages. How do I edit it for the homepage (one banner) my writers page (one banner) and a third page (one banner)?
The ads are all different. Help much appreciated. My website is http://soccerspecs.com btw, but it’s a WordPress site. :)

Please post the url for your wordpress.com blog. The one you have linked to above is not a wordpress.com hosted blog.
We cannot advertise on wordpress.com blogs and doing so will result in blog deletion. http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/12/08/adsense/
We cannot drive traffic to 3rd party sites using wordpress.com blogs
section 2, 5th bullet ToS http://wordpress.com/tos/
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/06/01/my-blog-has-been-suspended/We cannot access and edit our underlying blog templates at wordpress.com as we are all on the same multiuser blogging platform. If you could edit then everyone with the same theme would find their blog likewise changed.
If you have downloaded software from wordpress.org then you need to go to this support forum http://wordpress.org/support

Strange ruling.
Money4Banners out of the question then? Seems like a dictatorship…
My WordPress is http://soccerspecs.wordpress.com/

It’s in the terms of service that you agreed to when you signed up for your blog.
#2, bullet 5 highlighted in blue.
[edit: at some point in the future there may be a paid option available to allow advertising.]
-
The Terms of Service that you agreed to to get a blog here were clear. Didn’t you read them? The FAQ policy on advertising is clear. Didn’t you read it?
In your case I would suggest that you choose the second wordpress option. You can hire a web host and download free software from http://wordpress.org and then hack your template to suit. You can also import the contents of your wordpress.com blog into a wordpress.org template.
-
So basically there is no way I can make money off my site, despite paying for the domain name? I do not want to make a lot, just enough to cover my costs for this site.
WordPress TOS has
the Content is not spam, and does not contain unethical or unwanted commercial content designed to drive traffic to third party sites or boost the search engine rankings of third party sites, or to further unlawful acts (such as phishing) or mislead recipients as to the source of the material (such as spoofing);
Don’t see why Money4Banners isn’t allowed?

You own your domain and after 60 days (ICANN rules) you can re-point it elsewhere.
This advertising policy is not a matter for volunteers to debate. http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/12/08/adsense/
It’s cut and dried. If you want a monetized blog then a wordpress.org blog will suit your needs and a wordpress.com blog will not.If you wish to enter a debate with staff you can do so. http://wordpress.com/contact-support/
Alternatively you can wait for an adsense widget to be introduced as indicated in this entry under Advertising at the bottom of this page http://wordpress.com/features/ but note that money4banners is not being contemplated.
Advertising
To support the service we may occasionally show Adsense ads on your blog, however we do this very rarely. In the future you’ll be able to purchase an upgrade to either turn the ads off or show your own Adsense ads and make money from your blog. -
The first link you have provided above is not to a wordpress.com blog.
It’s a link to an advertising site. -
Oh, my mistake. It was meant to be http://www.soccerspecs.co.uk
Alright then, I’ve registered with a free hosting service (which has all I need) and it satisfies WordPress.org requirements (4.0 SQL and something else). I’ve already uploaded the WordPress file on their server, now how do I transfer my site from http://www.soccerspecs.wordpress.com to the WordPress.org tool?
Thanks for all the help, by the way.

(1) No wordpress.com blogs have urls containing “www” http://soccerspecs.wordpress.com/
(2) Requirements: PHP 4.3 or higher, MySQL 4.0 or higher, Apache or Litespeed recommended.
(3) Here are the instructions you need http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/can-i-migrate-my-blog-from-here-to-another-blog-somewhere-else/ -
http://soccerspecs.wordpress.com/
I’ve always thought it was the same thing, but then I’m a computer n00b so… :(
-
Using the “www’ means that some folks and some search engines may not find your blog. Not to worry just stop using it.
Best wishes :) -

Now you upload it to your new blog. The FAQ that TT gave you has basic instructions for that; more than that, you’ll need to ask at WordPress.org, as we don’t have experience with it and they do. There should be an Import feature on the new WP blog somewhere you can use.

@gallastico
Also note that you now need to export your links out of your wordpress.com blog separately
http://mydomain.com/wp-links-opml.php (You must change “my domain” to your own url, of course.)
And the wordpress.org support forum link is http://wordpress.org/support
Best wishes :) -
I don’t have any links on my site (was going to add them later).
Thanks for all the help guys, you’ve really been useful. I will be off to WordPress.org to irritate them with my neverending questions :D
