how do I edit the slideshow?

The slideshow pictures that are on my homepage are not the pictures that are in that slideshow gallery.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I do not see the gallery on your homepage that you are referring to.
If possible, send me a screenshot, so I can better understand the issue. You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there.
The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:
Once I get some feedback, we can take the next troubleshooting step in resolving your issue.

Please upload the images to your site here:

Once they are there, I will be able to access them and continue to troubleshoot your issue.

I see.
The site in question is johnwhophotography.wordpress.com with the Photographer theme.
In order to set up the slider for your site’s home page, you will need to follow this theme’s instructions:
Photographer features a Home Page Template that displays a slideshow of Featured Images from any post category specified in the Theme Options. In addition, you can optionally display a featured page and Widgets beneath the slideshow within the Theme Options.

Remove the gallery you inserted on the home page, change its template to Home Page, then set your Featured Images post category here:
https://johnwhophotography.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=theme_options
Now, assign this category to posts you’d like to appear in the slideshow on your home page and be sure that each post has a Featured Image associated with it:

Just be clear, there are no posts. It’s not a blog. It’s a website where the home page just features a slideshow. If you go to the edit page for that page you will see that the photos (except one) in that slideshow are not actually there. What is on the edit page is a different set of photos from what is shown in the home page slideshow. Also, to be clear, this is about johnwhophoto.com and not about johnwhophoto.wordpress.com.

I’ve gone through the suggested information and the settings that I have in place are correct. The problem remains although it has changed now. I had to completely eliminate the photos in the slideshow from the media files to finally get rid of them. Really? You can’t just remove them from the page? You have to remove them from everything? I then loaded the new photos for the slideshow onto the page but not until I had to also remove them completely from the files. Again… really? When I loaded them onto the page, I somehow got two of everything in the slideshow (but only one of each was in the edit page!!!) I then had to completely remove those from the media files… again!! Now one of each of the correct photos is finally in the homepage slideshow but I can’t control the order that the pictures are shown in. Even though I move them around on the edit page it doesn’t affect the slideshow. The edit page indicates that changing the photo order (drag and drop) on the edit page will change the slideshow order. It doesn’t.

The theme’s authors have addressed comparable issues in the theme’s forum:
http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/photographer
If you’re not satisfied with how this theme operates, I can remove it and refund the associated charge.
Then, you can view other themes that feature sliders. Perhaps you will find something that is more in line with your expectations:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/post-slider/
If you’d like a refund, let me know, and I will process your transaction, ASAP.
