how do i edit theme in custom css?

i wanted to change the theme to a wood theme i downloaded, but i don’t know what i’m supposed to do. when i download the theme, i get a bunch of files–images, and a few style sheets. i’m inexperienced in this area. someone please help!

No wonder you wanted a wood theme! Unfortunately, the only themes that can be used with blogs hosted at wordpress.com are the themes in your dashboard. These stickies might help clarify things, and the 2nd point in the 2nd sticky explains how to link your blog to your username:

At wordpress.COM, we are limited to the themes under appearance > themes. We cannot upload themes found on the internet.
