How do I embed a slideshow from Flickr or photopeach?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I want to embed slideshows from Flickr and Photopeach, but none of them post successfully, so how do I get them to work? Every time I copy and past the embed code in the draft, it comes out as blank in the preview page. I am going crazy.

    Hi, this is us again. This also might help in getting us help.
    This is the code for photopeach:
    Las Vegas on PhotoPeach

    <object width=”445″ height=”296″><param name=”movie” value=”http://photopeach.com/public/swf/story.swf”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”/><param name=”allowfullscreen” value=”true”/><param name=”flashvars” value=”photos=http://photopeach.com%2Fapi%2Fgetphotos%3Falbum_id%3D14m3732&autoplay=0&embed=1″/><embed src=”http://photopeach.com/public/swf/story.swf” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”445″ height=”296″ flashvars=”photos=http://photopeach.com%2Fapi%2Fgetphotos%3Falbum_id%3D14m3732&autoplay=0&embed=1″></embed></object>

  • Howdy,

    That embed code will not work because we remove JavaScript, Flash, iframe, form, and input tags for security reasons.

    You can read more about the types of code we allow on this support page:

    Let me know if you have any other questions. :-)

    @theindependentbeat,

    Please take note of this article:
    http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/07/17/gigya-2-flickr-slideshows/

    But also note that Flickr slideshows can be embedded into posts or pages:

    If you have enabled auto-embedding in Settings>Media, then you should be able to insert a Flickr slideshow simply by pasting its URL (http…etc.etc…/show/ ) in the HTML post or page editor (thanks to Jennifer for pointing out). If this won’t work, you can use the workaround described here.

    and this as well:

    Flickr Photos and Videos

  • @1tess — Whoa, I haven’t tested pasting the Flickr slideshow URL for a slideshow in eons. Thank you!

    @bryanvillarin

    Yes, if you want the Flickr slideshow in a post or page (well, at least it worked for me in one blog recently) it works.

    But if you need it in a sidebar, a slideshow, not a Flickr widget, then you must navigate the controversial gigya code. Having the ability to put a Flickr slideshow easily into a sidebar would be very convenient for lots of reasons for lots of folks. Just an idea. IMO a good one, too.

    best wishes
