How do I enable full post display in archives?
-
Hi, have just created two new blogs at wordpress.com. When I moved one of the blogs away from the default ‘Kubrick’ theme to ‘Chaotic Soul’ I found out that I didn’t get the full posts (with photos) displayed when I went to archives. Absolutely want to have this.
How do I enable full post display in a theme where by default only headers or truncated posts are displayed?
Yes – I’m new, and haven’t spent more than a few days trying to understand how sidebar widgets work etc – but i can’t find an obvious way to proceed.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

Hey there.
Sadly that is theme dependant and we’re unable to edit the functionality of themes here at wordpress.com.
If it’s that important to you I’m afraid you’ll have to change themes.
This should give you an overview:

Thanks Carocat.
The link is good (internetducttape) – had looked at it this am – however though really good info that Eric has compiled – he doesn’t always go into the level of detail that tells me how the archive pages work :(
I understand that we can’t modify themes – but what about a custom text sidebar widget ? Could one be created which displayed archives (the same as default?).

If you can code it with HTML without javascript, flash, or embeds, then you should theoretically be able to put it in a text widget. However, I can’t see how that would work if you can’t get the page you want to link to existing in the first place.

Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean. What page?
