How do I establish a child page, when not all pages are in Page Attributes menu?
-
Not all pages are listed on the Page Attributes drop-down menu. My page is published, but I can’t hook it to a Parent Page.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Can you let me know what page you’re having trouble with? Happy to take a look once I know a bit more info!
-
My blog is currently private I’ll go switch it to public for awhile. :-)
At the bottom of the Main Menu on the sidebar, you will see two pages, Providence (Olevianus) and Providence 2. I am trying to make Providence 2 a child of Providence (Olevianus). I’ve got several more child pages in the works and need to fix this problem.
Same is true for my Pages widget on the sidebar.
Thanks.

As I’ve been researching this over the week-end, I’m wondering if I’m looking at the challenge the wrong way. My thinking was to organize my material in hundreds of pages and sub-pages. Maybe I should publish hundreds of posts/articles and use just a few pages. This would fit better with WordPress theme structure.
This will mean some redesign at this stage.
Which leads to another question — what is the strongest, most capable straight blog/writing theme? (I’m not interested in photo spreads / video / etc.) -
Hi there,
I highly recommend going to post route because pages on WordPress.com are meant to be static. Also tags and categories cannot be added to pages, only posts – so just for organization reasons I’d highly recommend going the posts route. However you can still create a Custom Menu to organize your Pages and subpages.
As for themes, I think the Editor style themes would be best for you. Here’s a filter for those:

From those I think these might be great options:
Blogum: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/blogum/
Quadra: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/quadra/
Circa: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/circa/
Sorbet: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sorbet/
Syntax: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/syntax/
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Thanks, Grace:
I have already moved in the direction of posts vs. pages.
I am currently using SixteenNine.
Now I just need to switch 25 pages that I’ve written to posts.
Not technically difficult — just work. :-( -
Hi there!
I see! Oh man. But I think it will be totally worth it! I’m not sure if this matters to you but also from an SEO stand point posts are better.
If you want to learn more about that, here’s a great post written by my colleague Elizabeth:
