How do I export my database hosted by WordPress without plug ins?

  I need to export my database so that I have the .sql file to import to my new dreamhost database. I used the export function on wordpress but all I got was an xml file. I have read every single wordpress codex article on “exporting and importing” and I have not been able to understand them. Can someone please just simply tell me how I do this? again, I don’t have plug ins

  The WordPress Codex only applies to self-hosted WordPress.org sites unless it specifically says otherwise. exporting via XML is the only export method on WordPress.com. However, you can import that file into your self-hosted WordPress install by following the instructions here:
