How do I find a domain name I purchased from WordPress?
-
2 part question. Should have been a one part solution, but I tried to solve the problem just by using the guidelines first.
Background:
a) I registered a new domain name Lawnchairpilots.com when I created my second blog. Pointed it to the new blog, no problem. So far, so good.
b) Created a website to capture more media and details. Tried to redirect the domain name to that by going to the support page and following examples. Got hung up on the netserver identification step, never getting the netserver name to be accepted. Somewhere in exiting that process, i got a message saying “Your changes will take 48 hours to process.” That was several days ago. Now when I go into Shopping, Domains, the purchased domain name no longer appears, nor does it point to the new web site, still points to the new blog site.Question 1: How do I find / retrieve the domain Lawnchairpilots.com so I can redirect it.
Question 2: How do I find the correct netserver name? The site I am trying to redirect to is: https://sites.google.com/site/lawnchairballoonpilotsThanks, Joe B.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Question 1: How do I find / retrieve the domain Lawnchairpilots.com so I can redirect it.
You can view your registered domain(s) here: https://lawnchairpilots.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Question 2: How do I find the correct netserver name? The site I am trying to redirect to is: https://sites.google.com/site/lawnchairballoonpilots
I looked at Google’s support documentation and it appears that they support site mapping via CNAME records, rather than name servers: http://support.google.com/sites/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=99448 (see the section on “Sites outside of Google Apps”) However, their documentation says that they don’t support mapping for “naked” domains. This means that you’ll be able to map your domain “www.lawnchairpilots.com” to your Google Site, but “lawnchairpilots.com” will still point to your WordPress.com site. If you want to try doing that, you’ll need to follow the steps in the Google support doc that I’ve linked above, as well as our instructions for creating custom DNS records: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/custom-dns/
On a side note, I found it interesting that you registered a domain name with WordPress.com but then proceeded to build a website on Google Sites. Could you share why you decided to do it that way? It would have been more straightforward to either build a site on WordPress.com (I’m a little biased, of course), or register your new domain name directly via Google Sites.
It the long run, I’d actually recommend that you transfer your domain name to a different registrar, than map your domain to your Google Site from there. I see that you only registered your domain name with us 16 days ago, and because of an ICANN rule, you can only transfer a domain 60 days after the original registration. You can find more information on transferring out a domain here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/
