How do I find a saved draft?

I haven’t blogged in two years and everything has changed. I’m halfway through a blog. I can’t recover it to finish it and post it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there. Go to your WP-Admin dashboard, here: http://atticannie.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

Click on Posts ->All Posts and look for the Drafts link at the top of the page. If your draft saved correctly it will be there. If it’s not there and you had been using the new Beep Beep Boop editor, then I’m afraid that draft is probably gone. This is a known issue with the new editor, so I won’t recommend using it.

Thanks. How do I change from (read get rid of) the BEEPin editor? I frequently do not do blogs all is one setting and would not like this to happen again.

Thankfully it was still there but now I have a new question: How do I find the dashboard again? It wasn’t anywhere to be found. Do I have to type/wp-admin? every time I wish to see it?

  • The new editor is now the default and unfortunately there’s no way for us to set it as default from within WordPress.com. You can follow the ongoing discussion on this issue here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-reinstate-the-option-of-choice-to-use-the-old-publishing-format?replies=544

Staff has indicated that there aren’t any plans at this stage to scrap the old editor, so we can still use it. The simplest option now is to bookmark your WP-Admin dashboard in your browser and always create and edit new posts and pages via that. To find your WP-Admin dashboard, click on the WP-Admin link on the My Sites page, or add “wp-admin/” at the end of your WordPress.com URLs. Or simply bookmark the link I gave you above.

If you don’t mind “getting your hands dirty” a bit, another user has created a workaround in the form of a user script you can install in your browser that will automatically take you to the classic editor every time the new one tries to load if you click the New Post or Edit buttons in the admin bar or on-site. It works like a charm and is much simpler than it appears. See this link for instructions: http://wp.me/p3639L-Iu
