Howdy deniseloretta,
Is there a specific IP address you’re looking for? Perhaps you were given some particular directions somewhere?
From my end, it looks like you’re trying to map your domain to your WordPress.com blog. In your case, you’ll need to be on, at the very least, the Personal Plan to map your domain.
I’d recommend starting with this support page.
The nameservers for domain mapping are:
ns1.wordpress.com ns2.wordpress.com ns3.wordpress.comCheck out this support article on GoDaddy’s help page for information on how to enter these.
If anything isn’t clear, please don’t hesitate to ask me for more help!

@deniseloretta
Note: WordPress.COM blogs do not have permanent IP addresses. IP addresses here can and do can change over time.

Thanks to you both for the input. I don’t understand how & why that would/ should ever change. So – if I upgrade my plan to a paid plan, will I be guaranteed able to get the assistance I need to determine what my ip address is in order to provide that to GoDaddy – and then does that guarantee it’ll still work when they redirect it? Sorry – this technical terminology and all of the moving parts still baffle my mind… I’ve been weeding my way through it for 3 years. Not sure it’s worth pursuing any further. Thanks!

Forget the IP address part please and purchase the upgrade.
http://wordpress.com/pricing/Know that godaddy support can and will change the nameservers as described at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-do-i-find-my-ip-address-for-godaddy?replies=4#post-2974861. They do this all the time for wordpress.COM users who are mapping existing domains.

I’m still not clear on how upgrading will get me my ip address and connect me to my domain through GoDaddy. The ip address is what I need for that. Is this what the upgrade constitutes?

Domain mapping is not done free of charge. It requires an upgraded plan.
You purchase a WordPress.COM upgrade so you can map to the existing domain http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
How domain mapping works
Registering an underlying .wordpress.com URL first is required for domain mapping. That underlying URL does not have to match the domain URL when you are domain mapping. What domain mapping does is providing a seamless redirect to the very same content under the new domain URL when a person clicks the old URL .wordpress.com to the original content. It can take up to 72 hours for domain propagation to take place throughout the internet but it doesn’t usually take that long. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/There are 3 ways to add a custom domain to your blog. Please note that an active WordPress.com plan is required to add a custom domain to your site. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#getting-started
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/ The domain or mapping of any existing domain URL is included in the pricing for a personal upgrade, a premium and a business upgrade. The WordPress.COM upgrade for mapping a domain must be renewed annually.
WordPress.com does not provide an email service for blogs on their sub domains or on custom domains. Please see these support docs

I do appreciate this, but most of the time I feel like I’m trying to decipher another language. So if I upgrade, I can somehow apply my existing domain name (that is currently hosted through GoDaddy) to this existing WP blog/ website through WP?

Yes and Staff will explain this to you better than compchris and I have done above, not to worry.

Hi Denise,
Yes. Absolutely! :) I understand that it can be confusing. Once it’s setup, you should be good to go. And, you’ll have somebody to help guide you, be it one of us in the forums, or someone through live support. We’ll get you taken care of!

Excellent. Hopefully sooner than later, as I’m literally on the fence about discontinuing altogether. My next question is – with my obvious lack of technical knowledge – is it realistic to expect that I could do this with the assistance that comes with the most basic plan?
-
Yep. I’m sure you’ll be able to do it. :) This is an extremely common process when working with a website, and I have no doubt that you’ll be able to do it. The personal plan should have everything you need to get up and running.

Hi Denise,
Are you signed up for at least the Personal plan now? You’ll need to be signed up for that at the very least to get a credit to map your domain. We won’t actually be transferring anything to WordPress.com.
I’d like you to get started with this guide. You’ll be using your existing domain, so make sure to follow those steps closely.
If you get stuck, tell me what you’ve done so far, and what step you’re at. We’ll get you through this!
~Chris

I’m sorry, but this sounds way too complicated, and where my biz is currently at, it’s simply not worth the headaches. I think this was the info I needed to make my final decision regarding whether or not I proceed. I truly appreciate all of your assistance in any case. ~D

Hello,
If there’s any chance that you’re still interested in working with WordPress.com for your website, there is live chat support available with WordPress.com plans, which can help you get set up. It might be a little easier to work with someone, and to be able to ask questions live. And if you simply find that this isn’t for you, there is a 30-day refund policy should you find that this isn’t what you’re looking for.
Either way, I wish you the best!

Hi deniseloretta,
If you’ve already bought a domain through GoDaddy and want to use it for dmpnaturalmnweddings.wordpress.com, it needs to be ‘connected’ to that site with domain mapping:
http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
Once you have chosen a plan and added domain mapping, GoDaddy will need to update some settings for the domain (name servers). We can give you these name servers and a sample email to send to them.
If you want some help getting started, just let me know and I can talk you through each step :)
