How do I find my SAVED DRAFT?

  • Unknown's avatar

I was working on a draft. The system would not allow me to upload photos – there was a problem with the system, it said try later.

I saved the draft, came back later, but have not been able to LOCATE the PLACE to go to find OLD DRAFTS. The “DRAFTS” storage is not well-marked in my opinion.

In Weebly, the “Drafts” button is right there, beside the “new posts” button, very obvious.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi!

Currently, it doesn’t look like you have any saved drafts on your site. All of your posts can be found here:

    https://suburbanfarmersblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=post

Could you let me know some additional information about the post?

    1. What was the post title?
    2. Were you working in the Classic Editor (URL would have read /wp-admin) or the New Editor at wordpress.com/post?

Oh drat. I was fairly sure that I saved the draft when the photos wouldn’t upload. Does WordPress not automatically save a draft that I am working on, if I stop?
I cannot tell you what I was working in,. I never noticed. This was just last week – and I am a new customer, if that helps.

The title of the draft was Harvest the Broccoli Already. I had added one photo.

BUT – please tell me for future WHERE drafts are to be found!

After checking the link you sent me, I can see that I was working in New Editor.

It appears to me that WordPress does not have an “automatic save” feature to its system, and that although I had that page open for a few days working on the post, I must never have hit “save.”

I couldn’t find an old draft of that post. It looks like you’ve already reposted this to your blog here:

Is that the same post you were referring to?

The New Editor (wordpress.com/post) uses something called “local storage.” When you’re working on a post and haven’t clicked “Save” to save it to WordPress.com, a version of the post is automatically saved in your browser. So, if you accidentally close your browser while you’re working, the draft should pop up when you visit the new editor again. However, to make sure your drafts are being saved, I recommend clicking “Save” every so often here:

When you have saved drafts, they will appear here:
