how do i find out what my cname is?

  Hi, I’m new to this and Crazy Domains (who I have registered my domain name with) have asked me to find out my cname and I have no idea where to find this. Can anyone help me? Thanks

  Hi, Crazy Domains asked me to get my cname so they can upload my blog/website without affecting the email account.

  Are you trying to map a subdomain (for example blog.mydomain.com) to your existing blog hosted by WordPress.COM? These are the steps to follow, including which CNAME record to enter at your existing registrar:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-subdomain/

  If you want your blog to NOT be at a subdomain, but simply at your existing domain (for example mydomain.com directly), these are the steps to follow:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

  I am trying to upload my blog/website to Crazy Domains as they will be hosting it. They have asked me to get the CNAME of my blog so that they can then set this up for me. I have no idea what mapping means and would prefer it if I could actually talk to someone about this rather than continue to correspond via email – is this possible at all?

  In that case you’re not in the right forum, I’m afraid. There are two types of WordPress blogs: those hosted by WordPress.COM, and those that are self-hosted and that use the WordPress.ORG software. They are very different. If your site will be hosted by Crazy Domains, it means you will be using the latter and need to go to http://wordpress.org/support/ for assistance.

  There’s no phone assistance as far as I know, except of course from Crazy Domains if they offer such a service.

  Thanks for that – I have already spoken to Crazy Domains and they advised me to get the info from WordPress and as I am new to this and the contact support for WordPress is not available until 1 March – I went to the forums area but again I really have no idea of what I’m doing or that I had chosen the wrong forum, so apologies for that – I’ll now try to contact support at wordpress.org and hope that they can help me. Once again thanks.
