How do I find out what version of WordPress I have?
-
I just need to find out what version of WordPress I have on my blog, but it has proven to be harder than I expected. Any help would be appreciated.

You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.
This support forum is for WordPress.com hosted blogs only. If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums, not here.
If you don’t understand the difference, you may find this information helpful.

WordPress.COM doesn’t really have a version since wordpress is continually updating it with bug fixes and code changes. As a base, we are likely on 2.8.2, but that really doesn’t mean anything.
Why exactly do you need to know?
-
Because when I goolge my blog I see some garbled stuff about comments, and I would like to change that so the viewers actually see a desctiption of the page. I cant find anything on changing the description on this version, so I was hoping another would have something for that.

You cannot change versions here at wordpress.COM. We are not in control of that and we all use the same version – whatever that is, but it is always the latest.
If you are talking about meta descriptions or something like that, we cannot add those here at wordpress.COM. We do not have access to the underlying theme files.
For better or worse, what shows in Google searches is Google’s choice.

Even if you could add meta descriptions to a post or page, that is no guarantee that the search engines will use it. In my experience it seems they only use it about 20-25% of the time. The rest of the time they will randomly pick something out of the post. I think part of that depends on the search term used.
