how do I find out who someone is?
-
someone with an email name that I do not recognize wants to view my private blog. How do I find out who that is?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

They heard about my blog–private because I’m not broadcasting my experiences to those I do not know–and have received a request from this individual (with a name I don’t recognize) to view my blog.
The question is how to ID them before allowing them access.
[I am skeptical, as raincoaster suggested)

If you have their email, email them back and say “Who are you and why should I allow you access?” just like that. If it’s a friend, they’ll say so.

If that is the case, just a name, then it’s best to leave them alone. Think about it: without an email how in the wordpress.com world would you even invite them to view your blog.
Just spammy. If they were someone you know, or a friend of a friend, or had a legitimate reason to read your private blog he or she would certainly be more forthcoming with such information.

You are welcome.
Spammers are not always the brightest bulbs on the tree. One would think if one were to spam or phish, one would leave contact information.
I see a lot of spam-fail caught on these forums, get a lot caught by akismet on my blogs, and some even slips through via my wp.com contact forms… I wouldn’t worry about it.
