How do I find the plugins item in the menu?

    How do I find the plugins item on the menu?
    I went to the Yoast website to find out how to add the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) plugin and it indicated that I need to go to the plugins menu item just below the Appearance menu item. However, no plugins menu item appears in the menu list. What do I do to get plugins like the SEO added?
