Further … Google is telling me something about a robots.txt file? Whatever it is, I doubt I have access to it.

Hi!
When I visit your blog, I see the address as “oldknittylady.wordpress.com” but I do see that you have the domain
oldknittylady.com. To start with, would you likeoldknittylady.comto be the visible address when people come to your blog? If so, then I might suggest setting it as your ‘primary’ domain – this makes it take precedence over the addressoldknittylady.wordpress.com. We do have a guide for this setting at the link below:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address/The page where you can change this setting is this link below:
https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/oldknittylady.wordpress.comWith regards to searching:
Google can take a while to index (i.e. find and catalog) a blog. The “robots.txt” file they refer to is this one:
https://oldknittylady.wordpress.com/robots.txtIt basically tells Google what they can or cannot index of your site. In your case at the moment, it’s telling Google that they can index anything aside from your site administration pages, which is correct.
Once you’ve set your
oldknittylady.comdomain as the primary address, it’s likely to take a while for Google to properly index your site; but what you could do is try using their “Google Search Console” service, which lets you manually submit your site to Google for indexing. We do also have a guide to help you get started with that:
https://wordpress.com/support/site-verification-services/#google-search-consoleI hope that helps, if you do have any other questions let us know!
