  You can register a new domain via WordPress.COM which comes with a paid plan(Personal, Premium or Business). Read more about paid plans here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
  Follow the instructions given here to register a domain via WordPress: https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/

  OR

  You can map your existing domain to your WordPress.COM site. You will also need to upgrade to a paid WordPress plan(Personal, Premium or Business) to do this.

  All new and mapped domains require a annually renewed WordPressdotcom upgrade plan. https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  If you want to upgrade to the Personal plan, add that to your cart first before adding the domain.
