How do I get a featured image to stay?
-
I’m trying to get Featured Images to show on my blog, but it’s not working. The theme that I’m experimenting with says that it allows for Featured Images and I’ve updated the pages. From here, I don’t know what else I could do or what I might be doing wrong.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Amy – which of your blogs is the one you’re working with, and how do you expect the featured images to show?
I took a look at your sites, but I wasn’t sure which one you’re referring to. :)

So sorry! I was worried about that. I’m actually preparing to consolidate my amielouellen blog to my amywritesromance site, but I was playing around on the hidden blog trying to give everything a try before I start my change over. I’m planning on using the header photos (with a little more work) on the hidden blog and the theme Misty Lake for this change over. That’s what’s up on the amyandotherthings (the hidden blog). I hope this makes sense. So that is the blog I’m trying to change though I will make the changes to the amywriteseromance blog. Whew! Hope this isn’t too confusing!

Hi Amy – no worries! So, Misty Lake is the theme that you’re asking about, correct?
If so, that theme displays featured images on the posts page, above the post that they’re set for. If you look at the demo here:
http://mistylakedemo.wordpress.com/Scroll down to the picture of the beach above the “Pellentesque Habitant Posuere” post – that’s a featured image. If you click through to that post, you’ll note the image doesn’t show on the single post page.
This is just on posts, though. The featured images won’t do anything if you set them on pages. Does this answer your question? If not, let me know! :)

It does! Though it makes me sad. :( I like that I can set the images for posts, but really need to set them to pages. Is there a theme I can use to set a different header for the pages? Thanks so much for all of your help!

Hi Amy – there are some themes that will use a featured image on a page as the header for that page. Here are a few examples:

http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/adventure-journal/
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyeleven/The feature is called “Featured Image Header” and all these themes have it (however, for some of them it only works with posts):
