how do I get access to my theme?
-
I installed wordpress but in the dashboard there’s no access to Appearance>Themes>Install themes, as the video explains. I created a blog then, but all it allows me to manage is that blog. I downloaded the package for the InStyle Theme. What do I do next? I followed the instructions in Read Me, but when I click Install in the window that pops up, it does nothing. Thank you.

You cannot install themes on a free WordPress.com blog, you can only use the themes provided.

Thanks for your reply. I only created the blog because I thought it was needed, but my real intention is to be able to use the themes I downloaded from Elegent Themes.com, for which I need to use WordPress. Once I have an account in WordPress, how do I get access to Appearances (on the left sidebar)? Thanks

The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs are found here > Dashboard > Appearance > Themes
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install plugins, upload third-party themes or edit templates or themes. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/There is no upgrade that you can purchase from WordPress.com that provides FTP access and the ability to upload third party themes. To use any theme other than the over 200 found here Dashboard > Appearance > themes you will need to hire a web host and set up a self hosted WordPress.org install. Read about the differences here > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
We cannot edit templates or themes and we cannot access the CSS editor unless we purchase a custom design upgrade.
