how do i get advertisers to support my blog

  i love having a blog and would like to take it to the next level and perhaps get some advertisers. How can I do this using wordpress?
  Please help.

  You don’t. The only advertising allowed on free wordpress blogs is to apply for wordads through WordPress.
  To put your own advertising on your blog violates your TOS.

  It depends. Until you have about a thousand hits a day, it’s not worth it. The ad income doesn’t bring in enough to pay for the hosting.

  If you wish to eventually move off WP.com and go independent, the first thing you should do is get a custom domain, so that when you move you can just change where the domain points and you get all the traffic still. The more incoming links you get to that new domain the better.

  If the WordAds program will not work for you, then yes, you will have to move. What you might consider is a self-hosted WordPress site. Here is a list of some recommended hosts. If you have a lot of content on your site here, and are not familiar with self-hosting or setting up a WordPress site, you might consider the Guided Transfer.
