How do I get an existing gmail account to link up with my new domain?
-
I have an existing gmail account that ran with our old site that we need to have running ASAP. But we just switched over to wordpress.com and now the email address won’t work. I have tried setting things up with google apps but it won’t let me verify my account. I don’t know how to upload the html google wants me to put on my website. This is the html it wants uploaded:
google-site-verification: google7ce1eb8915084e39.html
I need help soon since our business runs on email quite a bit.

You can setup Google Apps for domains following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/google-apps-email/
Since you already have it setup, start with step 7.

Thanks, these are the steps I’ve been trying to use but once I complete step 9 I still can’t get google apps to verify my account without uploading the previous mentioned HTML and I’m lost after that.

Oh, sorry. Can you backtrack a bit and get the actua verification code to enter into your DNS settings, rather than the HTML file?

And now when I click on the links to my site above, it takes me back to the old website not the new one. Any thoughts?

Now that you have the verification code, follow step 7 in the guide again.
If you just changed your domain, it can take up to 72 hours for its new location to propagated to every ISP’s DNS cache, which could explain why it keeps moving and why the verification won’t work.
Unfortunately, we have no control over this process. It depends entirely on how often each ISP refreshes their DNS cache.
