How do I get back my editor?
-
I don’t want to type ‘classic’ into a block. I want to have my basic editor back. This new design is awful, and I don’t want to deal with more headaches just to post my text reviews. Please give me something to go back to the old interface.

Hi there, the Classic Editor in the MySite dashboard was a WPcom in-house product that has been retired in favor of the block editor which has been the default Editor in the WordPress open-source software since 2018. You can read about the change in this blog post https://wordpress.com/blog/2020/08/13/the-classic-editing-experience-is-moving-not-leaving/ If you are not already subscribed to the WordPress.com blog, I highly recommend it.
While the original WP Classic Editor is now available for everyone in WP Admin, just be aware that it is likely a temporary solution since it is being made available via the Classic Editor plugin that WPcom installed for us. We users do not know how long that will be supported.
If you choose to write in WP Admin’s Classic editor, open up a test post or page and start dabbling in the Classic block https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/ or the full Block Editor https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/ The more you use it, the easier it will become and you’ll be ahead of the game when the Classic Editor is finally retired.
More information about the change to the Block Editor here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-com-classic-editor-deprecation-faqs/
If you run into a specific issue while using the WordPress editor, please open a new forum thread and let us know what that is and what WPcom site it’s happening on. Thanks.
