How do I get comments to display on my blog?
-
Comments do not display on my blog. I have read all the suggestions and forums but cannot find the answer.
I’ve checked and re-checked “settings” and “tools” and “comments” on the dashboard. Obviously, I’m missing something.
Friends comment and I get notified on e-mail, I approve them, but they never show up on the blog. Help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your comments Pending approval are found at this link > http://phyllisdillerandwine.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?comment_status=moderated

Yes, but they do not show up on my posts as a dialog. I want to know how to get them to actually show up on the blog so others can see them.
-
They are pending your approval. You can click the “Approve” link so they appear on the appropriate posts. Have you done that?
-
I can see comments at the bottom of the post here when I click the post title http://phyllisdillerandwine.wordpress.com/2014/03/20/a-pox-on-all-cat-litters/
Unless you use the P2 theme which is a Twitter-like theme, know that the front pages of our blogs “showcase content” and comments are collapsed on that page. You cannot change this. The way the comments function is coded into the core of WordPress. By clicking the post title or the comments link the posts on the front page open on their own page where all comments display.

Okay, I’m still not understanding. When I read other blogs, I can see and comment. But when someone comments on my blog, I get an e-mail, I read the comment and approve it, but that’s the end. As far as I know, it never show up on my post., and if I’m understanding you, this is not anything I can change. So why can I follow the comments on someone else’s blog but people can’t follow mine? What am I missing? Do I need to change to a P2 theme? And if so, how do I do that?
sorry to be so dense. I’m trying (don’t mean as in trying your patience but probably that, too.)

I see comments here > http://phyllisdillerandwine.wordpress.com/2014/03/20/a-pox-on-all-cat-litters/
Do you see them? -
No I don’t. I copied and pasted the link to make sure I was seeing what you are seeing, but I do not see any comments.

At the bottom of that post I see these comments:
2 Responses to A pox on all cat litters!

And in case you’re interested, I heard there’s a new-fangled litter box that washes and dries the special litter that never has to be changed. You may have to surrender your first-born to buy it,however. Good luck!

March 21, 2014 at 12:15 pmGreat story. Luckily my gang of cats are not so fussy about their litter. However you made one fatal error about the outside litter. You said “used”! If the litter is used, no matter where it is, it will never be “used” again. The true outdoor litter box seems to be when I turn over the soil in my vegetable garden! Then a dozen of them come racing out of the house to see who will be first! :)

Okay. I am not seeing them. I will ask a friend to check her computer and see what shows up.

As I can view those comments using Firefox 27, IE 11 and Chrome 32 on Windows 7 and you can’t, you have a problem at your end that you will need to address. That is why I posted what I did above. Please work through all of those points and report back so Staff have something to work with.
I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Okay, here’s where I am now. I updated my browser (IE 11) and can now see a “messages” link (I guess) at the end of my posts. When I click on that, the messages come up. This is progress, but I am still wondering why they don’t just display as they do on other posts. I asked a friend to check my blog on her computer and she was able to click on the “message” notation and sure enough, they opened, but again, they did not just display unless she opened them.

Are you sure you are not referring to what I posted above? The front pages of our blogs “showcase content” only and comments are collapsed on that page. The way the comments function is coded into the core of WordPress and you cannot change this. By clicking the post title or the comments link the posts on the front page open on their own page where all comments display below the posts.

No, I’m not really sure. I am happy that I can now at least see and reply to the comments.
