How do I get comments to stay visible after closing a discussion?

  I would like comments to remain visible on old posts when I close the discussion, but this doesn’t seem to happen. Is this a restriction of TwentyEleven theme, and if so, is there a workaround?

  Hi there,

  Comments that are already posted on your articles should still appear after you disable commenting on each post. Is this not happening for you?

  If so, would you be able to provide me with a link to a post where you’re experiencing this problem?

  Additionally, you can automatically set the comments to close on your posts after a certain amount of time has passed by going to your Dashboard > Settings > Discussion and activating “Automatically close comments on articles older than X days.”
