How do I get my blog to be just my domain name?

When I transferred my domain from Hover to WordPress, I thought the site’s address would be fictionforreal.com. Instead, fictionforreal.com is still controlled by Hover, and my WordPress address is fictionforrealcom.wordpress.com. Please tell me what I need to do so you control the correct domain name. Thank you in advance.

You’re almost there, you just need to set it as your primary address now: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#set-a-primary-address :)

Thanks, Macmanx. I must have done something when I transferred the domain, because the fictionforreal.com domain doesn’t show up. All I see is fictionforrealcom.wordpress.com. Plus, when I enter the FFR address in my web browser, Hover still shows up as the manager. I thought I followed the instructions to transfer the domain, but I must have missed something. Do I need to start all over again?

You have mapped your domain correctly, but it is still pointing to Hover’s nameservers. You’d need to change that for the domain to display your WordPress.com site.
You can change the nameservers yourself, or you can reach out to Hover’s support team, here you will find more information:

Once that is done, go ahead and set your domain as the primary address, as staff-blorbo mentioned :)

Thank you for your clear instructions! This seems to be a Hover issue, because when I changed the nameservers, I got an error message that the domain was not found. When I searched on the error code, the article said I need to enter a PIN to complete this, but nowhere does it ask for a PIN. I followed their instructions and tried to change the authorization code, and I got the “domain not found” error message again. I’ve put in a service request with them. I’m ready to get this show on the road! Thanks again.
