How do I get my Carousel in the Lenscap theme to show on the Home Page along with my blog posts? It
-
Why doesn’t my Carousel show consistently with my blog posts? I don’t know how to get the Carousel to show on the Home Page along with my list of blogs posts underneath. Also why don’t my related posts show at the bottom of my category pages? There isn’t a menu that shows at the bottom of the Category Pages to show related posts. There isn’t a menu at all at the bottom of the Category pages. Please help. I am trying to get this site set up but it isn’t as easy to navigate as I thought. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Why doesn’t my Carousel show consistently with my blog posts? I don’t know how to get the Carousel to show on the Home Page along with my list of blogs posts underneath
The Carousel is showing just fine for me on the Home page:

What exactly is not working for you?
Also why don’t my related posts show at the bottom of my category pages?
Category pages, like https://citymakeuploft.wordpress.com/category/lifestyle/, show the feed of all posts assigned to a specific category. Related posts don’t show on any feeds on the site. Related posts only show in the single post view, i.e. if you click on a post title to view the post in its own screen.
There isn’t a menu at all at the bottom of the Category pages
Do you mean the Browse Categories section at the bottom of the Home Page? That only works on the home page, as explained in the theme’s documentation under the “Browse More Content, Instantly” section:
https://wordpress.com/themes/lenscap/
It’s not possible to display that menu on any other pages on the site, as the theme is designed to only show it on the front page, just like the slider will also only show on the front page.

Thank you for replying. I am on a MAC as well as my Iphone. When I open the page the Carousel shows. However when I click on a cateogory let say “Relatioships”, when I click home to go back, the Carousel is gone. Why is it doing this?
-
That’s because the carousel only appears on the home page. It won’t show on any other page or post on your site.
-
That’s what I’m saying. The Carousel doesn’t appear on my HOME Page. It only appears when I click our logo. When I click HOME the Carousel has disappeared and there are no blog posts. Why does this happen? How can I change it?
-
Ah, okay. Your “Home” page is not set as the site’s front page. The front page is what you see when you click on the main URL for your site: http://citymakeuploft.wordpress.com/
The page titled “Home” on your site is a completely different page at https://citymakeuploft.wordpress.com/home/
If you want the Carousel to appear on the page titled “Home”, you’ll need to set that as your site’s front page. You can find the steps to do that here:
-
Okay so this is the problem I run into when I do that. When it asks me to set a static front page, I do this and I select Blog as the Home Page and the Posts Page as the Home Page. However when I do this there are no posts underneath the Carousel. When I set Home as the Home Page and Blog as the Front Page the posts show up but then no Carousel. What am I doing wrong?
-
You have two options for the front page: It can show your posts, or it can show the content you have on the Home page. It cannot do both.
But whichever you pick, the carousel will only show on the front page.
-
That’s fine but it isn’t doing that. When I select the page that has my posts which I thought was the Blog page for my front page, the Carousel shows but there are no blog posts underneath. When I select the Home Page for My Front Page and Blog for my Home Page the Posts Show but there is no Carousel. What am I doing wrong?

I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Ive tried multiple settings and either the Carousel disappears or the posts don’t show. I really need to finish this site but it seems to not be working. Also I can’t find an option to change the bottom of the page. I need to change the description that are in black at the bottom of the page and I can’t find this either.

That is how your site is set up at the moment. The posts page is the front page by default. You don’t set the Blog page as your site’s front page, as the front page already displays the latest posts. You only need a Blog page if you want to use a different page as the front page.
When I select the Home Page for My Front Page and Blog for my Home Page the Posts Show but there is no Carousel
I’m not sure I follow here. How do you select Blog for your Home page?
If you want the page titled Home to be your site’s front page, and the posts to appear on a different page, your Homepage settings should look like this:
https://cloudup.com/ckkopunvaK5
In this case you’ll need to add the Blog page to your menu as well so that people can reach your posts.
Either way, the carousel should appear if you visit the link, http://citymakeuploft.wordpress.com/. I checked now on your site, and the carousel displays for me at that link with either setup.
Also I can’t find an option to change the bottom of the page. I need to change the description that are in black at the bottom of the page and I can’t find this either.
Those are widgets. In the Customizer, click the Widgets item, and select the widget area containing the widget you want to edit. The two paragraphs your site is showing in the footer are in Footer Column 1 and Footer Column 2 respectively.

I don’t want my posts to show on another page. I want them to show on my Front Page. However I want my Front Page to be my Home Page showing the Carousel and my posts.. When I click on Home Page, It shows and completely different page and the Carousel is gone. How do I make my front page my Home Page so that the Carousel shows on my Home Page and so do my Blog Posts?

I want my Home Page to look exactly the way my page looks when you click our Logo. How do I do this?

So you want the front page to show your latest posts, and you want the Home link in the menu to also go to the front page? As I explained above, the Home link on your menu is not currently linking to the front page, it’s linking to a completely different page.
In that case you need to change the title of your page called “Home” to something else, and you need to add a link to the front page to your menu under the item Home.
First, go to My Site ->Pages and edit the page titled “Home”. Change the title of the page, and update the page.Next open the Customizer, click on Menus ->Menu 2
If you still see a Home item there, click that, and edit the label to match the title of the page.
Next click Add Items ->Pages and click the Home item appearing there that says “custom link” next to it. That is the link to your site’s front page.

Reorder the menu items to be in the order you want them, and click Publish at the top of the Customizer.

Hello. Can you please answer the above question? Also I have one more question. In my footer menu I want to be able to feature different articles than the ones showing on the blog posts listed on the front page. They are showing the same posts as the ones listed on the front page list of blog posts. I want them to be different. How do I do this?

To what above question are you referring? If you mean “I want my Home Page to look exactly the way my page looks when you click our Logo. How do I do this? ” that is exactly what I explained in my last reply.
You don’t currently have a footer menu added to your site. Your front page displays the category menu automatically generated by your theme. That section displays the four most recent posts tagged with any particular category. This is explained in your theme’s instructions, here:
https://wordpress.com/themes/lenscap/
Your theme does offer support for a footer menu. To use the footer menu you need to create a new custom menu and assign it to the footer menu. You do this in the menus section of the Customizer.

Thank you! I finally fixed the home page. Now two more questions!
1. Since you said this isn’t a footer menu but a category menu how do I get it to show different posts than what is showing on my blog post list on the Home Page? I want the Category Menu to show other posts that users can read. I tried reordering the menu but I’m not sure I chose the right menu to reorder. It just doesn’t need to show the same posts as the posts that are vertically listed on the home page.
2. Also I am noticing when clicking my blog posts that the Related posts aren’t pulling the posts that are really related. For instance if I have Beauty Posts I’m reading the Related Posts will show one beauty post and 3 other Lifestyle post. How do I change that?

You can’t. Your theme creates this menu automatically on the front page, and it will always show the four most recent posts added to that particular category. You cannot edit this menu in any way.

Related posts don’t use the categories or tags that you added to a post. We use an algorithm that scans the content of the post and suggests related posts based on that, just how Google will suggest certain results for a specific search term. There is no way to control which posts are shown with this feature.
