How do I get my images to upload in color?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am trying to add images to a website I’m creating. The images are saved on my computer in color, but when I upload them they are in black and white. How can I fix this?

  • Hi there,

That’s very odd. I’ve never heard of that issue before.

Can you start by sharing the website URL?

Do you have any plugins that alter images in any way? Maybe there is a setting that needs to be changed.

It could also be a web host issue. Knowing the URL will allow us to see who’s hosting the site.

    Cheers,
    Eric

    Yes, here is the url

There shouldn’t be any plugins altering the images.

  • It looks like a CSS filter is being applied somewhere, I’m guessing your theme.

    What theme are you using?

The CSS class filter: var(--wp--preset--duotone--default-filter); is being applied, and when it’s disabled, the image is back to color.

I can see the issue, but I don’t know how to fix it. I’ll mark this for a staff member to jump in and see what they say.

    Cheers,
    Eric

  • Hi @bradfordlex99,

This is currently a bug with the Twenty Twenty Two theme, which applies a greyscale duotone to featured images. Typically, you would be able to change this, as shown here:

While I don’t have a timeline for a resolution, you might want to consider switching to a different theme in the meantime, such as Blockbase.

Thanks for the feedback. I will just switch the theme.
