How do I get my picture to show in Google search?

  I am going in circles trying to figure out how to link things together so that you see my image with the search results on google. What do I do? I tried doing the email verification via google but it keeps saying the link is incomplete/broken/not functioning. How do I do this so that I have a little picture pop up next to my posts? I think they are called ‘rich snippets’ if that helps.
