how do I get my posts in grid-form in my category menu's?
-
I changed the order of the posts so now the newest one is at the top!
the only thing that bothers me is the size and alignment of the images, they are quite ‘far away’ from the title and excerpt
By the way, I was wondering, when I reach the maximum posts per page (I know the maximum is 100, but say I want it to be 10), how can I add a ‘next’ button which gets you to the next page where the rest of the posts are and so on?

Wow, I think that is looking great. I don’t know if you changed anything on the image size or other but the image size and distance from the text looks great on my iPad. But maybe it looks different on a larger display. maybe Musicdoc will have a solution for that.
On the pagination idea, I think you *could* create separate pages each with the display post shortcode for the number of posts (think you can give a range of numbers in the shortcode). You could capture each shortcodes page URL and below your posts make links for all your pages.
Think about whether your users will page through several pages?
I wonder how it would work/look if you did the most recent 10 or so as you have planned and then on that page or a second page use a heading like Earlier Rravel Posts and just use a shortcode to list the titles only of the previous posts… You might use the display posts shortcode or the archive shortcode if you chose to just create a list of all the previous ones. Thst would create a kind of a table of contents to all your travel posts.
Great progress!

Thanks for picking up the ball on this. I didn’t respond to you earlier because of the modlook tag in the sidebar. I see now that the tag has been removed, though staff has yet to respond.
Sorry I was editing mine at the same time … And hadn’t refreshed the page
No worries.

@ ellencarola,
By the way, I was wondering, when I reach the maximum posts per page (I know the maximum is 100, but say I want it to be 10), how can I add a ‘next’ button which gets you to the next page where the rest of the posts are and so on?
houstonweaver’s idea might work, but I believe the following solution would be simpler:
How to display 10 posts each on 10 pages using display posts shortcode (limit = 100 posts):
1. Change the “Blog pages show at most” setting at Reading Settings to “10.” Note, however, that this setting will affect also the number of posts displayed on the posts page, and on all archives pages (category, author, year, month, date, etc.).2. Use the argument posts_per_page=”-1″ to display all posts in the specified category, as mentioned in an example on the Display Posts Shortcode support page. The limit of 10 posts per page setting (at Reading Settings) will result in only 10 displayed on the first customized archives page, with a button after the 10th labeled “Next” or something similar. There should be such a button at the bottom of each of the first 9 pages.
I think that will work.

I should have said you’ll see a link or button labelled “next,” “more,” or something to that effect.

Usually they’ll remove the tag and respond at about the same time, but delays happen. My guess is that either they’re preparing a response, or they figured you and ellencarola had it handled. : )

@ ellencarola, @houstonweaver,
I’m not sure the Reading Settings modification option I suggested above will work on a static page with display posts shortcode determining the content. It may only work on dynamic pages such as the homepage, search results, category and authors archives pages, and other archives pages. Haven’t tested it, and don’t have time to do so presently.
-
On the other hand, the presence of the display posts shortcode makes the page dynamic — the displayed content changes automatically when you publish posts assigned to the category specified in the code — so it might work.

@ ellencarola, @houstonweaver,
Tested the “Blog pages show at most” setting idea. Sorry, but it doesn’t work for a static page or post with display posts shortcode inserted. That setting could be used effectively on a category page to make the posts display on multiple pages. I’ll let you know if I think of another idea.

Hello,
I’m using the same theme and I’m having the same issue on category menu. I don’t want to create pages as the main advantage of the category menu is that it’s updated automatically.
Is there any way to make this theme amended ? Like emailing the creator of this theme ? I couldn’t find any contact info on the theme page :( Because it seems to be easy to fix.
In the meantime I’ll try your solution see if it’s something easy or not (i’m a newbie here) or just change theme which will be a shame in my opinion as it will be the only reason to do so :(
Thanks

On the issue of the picture being too far away(which doesn’t show on my device I guess, could you do an inline style on your <div> to narrow it and bring your image closer to the text?
Something like (playing with the numbers of course) surrounding the display posts section with a div:
<div style="width:400px;margin-left:10px;">Remembering to close the div after your shortcode..
