How do I get my rss feed to function properly?
-
When I click on my “subscribe RSS” all I get it code.. and at the top it says:
“This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.”
How do I change this? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I could not find a “subscribe RSS” anything on the blog linked to your name. Is it hidden or are you asking about another blog. The feed on the blog linked to your name looked ok to me.

This is your feed for posts http://healingleaf.wordpress.com/feed/ and the display appears normal to me using Firefox 4.0. I used the validation and the feed validates.

There’s an RSS feed icon half way down the sidebar but no subscribe RSS wording that I can see. -
The “Subscribe RSS” button is an image appearing all the way down towards the left. It’s part of the Elegant Grunge theme.

~~ All
Well the first time I missed both of them, and honest I looked several times, but I need to go back and see if I can find the one down icon.

Back to the original problem. Healingleaf, as timethief said, your RSS feed is valid.
http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fhealingleaf.wordpress.com%2Ffeed%2FWhere exactly are you seeing the “This XML file…” message? In your browser? What browser and version do you use?
-
If you look at it using Chrome, that’s how it is always going to look. That’s how they look in Chrome. Google wants you to use Google Reader to read RSS feeds instead.

Thanks TT, and everyone, if the feed appears normal to you then I guess that is all that matters, for some reason all I get is code…
I just tried putting the RSS icon on my sidebar… but I guess I can just use the one at the bottom of the elegant grunge theme -
@raincoaster, I am using Chrome.. so I guess that is the problem… :) thanks for the info!

@healingleaf
Would you like to enable blog subscriptions for your visitors? If so then here you go. :)

For what my opinion is worth – if you want subscribers don’t hide the RSS or Subscribe Widgets, make them easy to find. I missed them and I was looking for them.

P.S. IMO you have too many posts on the front page of your blog. > Settings > Reading reduce the number of posts on your front page.
Blog pages show at most __posts

@auxclass, I just added the email subscribe widget… its at the top now :)
@ TT, thanks for the advice. I was actually wondering how to go about getting the view where you only see the first paragraph of a post and then click “read more” for the whole post… But I will reduce the number of posts on the front page too -
Here are the instructions for splitting content by inserting “the more tag” http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
